

Laura Callaghan BA (Hons) MA: SHORT BIOGRAPHY
Callaghan studied Music and Media Studies at the University of Sussex, receiving a First Class Honours degree and the Ede and Ravenscroft Award for Outstanding Ability in Music. Callaghan went on to achieve a distinction for her MA in Composition for Film and Television at the University of Bristol.
Concert works include chamber and orchestral pieces, which have been performed nationwide. Her most recent performances include the premiere of "Whirled" for Mandolin Orchestra, commissioned by The Fretful Federation; a performance of her orchestral piece "Stress" by the University of Bristol Symphony Orchestra; "Observe Him" performed in St.Georges Bristol by the Apollo Saxophone Quartet and Goldberg Strings; a collaborative animation "The Seagull Ogles While We Pass By", premiered at the Watershed Cinema, Bristol and broadcast in December on BBC 2. In 2006, Callaghan was granted the PRS/Bliss Trust Young Composer award.
Callaghan currently runs a media music composition service, Hand-made-music.co.uk, which specialises in writing bespoke music for the media. She is currently living and working in London & Kent, for Kent Music School, Wandsworth Music Service. and privately.
